What does circa mean

Dating a piece of antique jewelry isn’t an exact science, rather a subjective attempt at using history and experience to determine a period of time.  That time frame is flexible and usually includes about 10 years before or after.  So when I say something like:  this filigree ring, c. 1930… would mean that the ring was likely made between 1920 and 1940.

c. = circa.  circa = around.
