A stunning Tiffany & Co. diamond and platinum brooch left jaws dropping on Antiques Roadshow earlier this year. The piece, which aired during an April 2024 episode, had been sitting in the owner’s collection for 30 years. Originally purchased for $3,000 from a private seller, the brooch turned out to be far more valuable.
During the appraisal, the guest shared that the brooch had hardly seen daylight since she bought it, admitting it was a piece she had stashed away and nearly forgotten. The appraiser revealed that the brooch was an authentic Tiffany creation from the 1920s, a period celebrated for its bold and innovative Art Deco designs.
“This is magnificent Art Deco craftsmanship,” the appraiser explained as they highlighted the intricate platinum setting and the variety of diamond cuts, including European, French, baguette, and round. They went on to describe the brooch as a “sculpture in miniature.”
As far as its current value, the appraiser estimated that a comparable piece would sell for $25,000 to $30,000, which means the guest’s $3,000 investment decades ago was especially savvy. “I guess I’ll have to wear it from now on,” the guest joked.
