If you find yourself in the San Diego CA area anytime soon, be sure to stop by the San Diego Museum of Natural History.  The All That Glitters: The Splendor and Science of Gems and Minerals exhibit explores the intrigue behind some of the earth’s most breathtaking creations. Among many spectacular specimens and finished jewelry pieces is a collection of 13 butterfly brooches created by Buzz Gray and Bernadine Johnston.

The butterfly brooches pictured here deemed themselves worthy of sharing, though they are only a small slice of everything the museum has on display now through April 2012.  Science and history aside, there is no denying the absolute magnificence of these sparkly creatures…
